The Atocha Discovery
On July 20, 1985, after more than 15 years of searching, treasure hunter Mel Fisher and his "Golden Crew" discovered the Atocha's treasure. The Spanish galleon sank in a hurricane off the Florida Keys in 1622, and its treasures rested beneath the Caribbean Sea for over 350 years.
